What has this world come to? Are we so hung up on material things that we have lost touch with what is most important? I don't care where the woman is from, if I love her so be it. She could be a top city executive or flipping burgers in McDonald's, in so far as I am happy with her, so be it. I have had a few women try to use money as a means of inducing me to either marry them, or at least get serious about them. Here are two amusing stories from my catalogue.
I was once involved with a very good looking chick, and she felt that I was her final bus stop, one fine day I got a phone call from her mother (who I had never met before).
"Hello my son"
I was once involved with a very good looking chick, and she felt that I was her final bus stop, one fine day I got a phone call from her mother (who I had never met before).
"Hello my son"
"Good afternoon, may I kindly know who is speaking please?"
"This is Mrs. ........"
"My daughter wishes to marry you, I have seen your photograph and I must say you appear very interesting"
"I hope you realise that my family is very influential, and you need not worry about anything, except worshipping your God".
"My son I saw you in my dream, and I saw you and my daughter returning to Nigeria and starting a business of your own, you need not worry i will make it possible for your love to grow".
I was dumbfounded and for once in my life I didn't have a thing to say, from that moment on I knew I had to get out of the friendship I shared with her daughter. The straw that broke the camels back was, one night i was sleeping and I awoke suddenly, to be confronted with the sight of the girl kneeling over me, holding a bible. Rocking back and forth as if in a trance with her eyes tightly shut. I heared the words:
"In the name of Jesus I bind thee as my husband"
"Yeee!!!!" "God I am finished"
I screamed grabbing the bible from her, running out of her house in my boxer shorts clutching the bible to my chest.
"I rebuke it, I rebuke it in the name of Jesus".
I had a brief dalliance (due to extreme boredom) with a chick whose father was apparently wealthy. In truth it was forgettable on most counts but she had a good heart and I felt that someday when it all fizzled out we would be great friends. Unfortunately for me this woman became somewhat obsessive in her belief that I was destined to be her husband. So much so that one day she called me and begun spinning a yarn about how successful er father's company is and how she is being fast tracked towards running the show soon. Much to my great surprise, she mentioned that chances were that she would cede running the company to her husband, due to the fact that a man would be better suited to running the outfit.
"what does that have to do with me" I asked, sincerely hoping that she wasn't implying what I thought she was.
"I sincerely hope that you are not using your father's wealth as an inducement" I stated angrily.
From that moment onwards i felt nothing but revulsion towards her, the sad thing is that I know a lot of men that would have jumped at the opportunity. I stopped sleeping with her and kindly asked her to leave me alone, I was subjected to months of stalking and a borderline sexual assault. Eventually she backed off.
Money is nothing but a visitor, and with all visitors the length of time it spends is entirely dependent on how you treat it. I believe that nothing handed to a man belongs to him, a man must earn and toil for his daily bread, there are no short cuts to success. I accept no favours, be it from my family or any person, I am destined for success and it will be from the sweat off my back and not from any wealthy benefactor.
I won't be blogging for a little bit, so I've left a fair bit to be read. Have a good one peeps........

You're running away again?? Gosh, what is up with you, Boorish? Hope say body dey inside cloth sha..
..anyway, as per ur post, well said o! I cannot/will not let things like money, social/celebrity status, and tribe/nationality affect my choice of a husband. All these things are trivial at most....especially money.
Like u said, money is just a visitor. It can come to just about anyone, and it can leave @ anytime. So why base a permanent decision on a temporary status??
GOSH! I AINT LAUGHED SO HARD IN A LONG TIME. THE FIRST GIRL BINDING YOU AS HER HUSBAND HAD ME IN STITCHES AND EVENYOUR REACTION AFTERWARDS HAD ME ROLLING ON THE FLOOR WITH LAUGHTER
ooo Gosh i agree with u...i fink every man shud EARN dere money and work 4 it..instead 4 it2 b handed to dem on a plate...otherwise how could survive in life...now sum1 needs to tell kevin federline dis (lol)
Na wa. you must be really good lookin Mr Boorish.With women of all ages tryin to buy your affections. I've heard several stories simililar to the ones you told.
LMAO @ Binding you in the name of Jesus & offering you riches. How desperate.
If it weren't so stalkerish and frightening I'd say go ahead and feel flattered at all the attention but sadly it's not like that. These women are touched in the head.
This man and his encounters...na wah ooh....my brother how far now??
Where u dey run go again? remember to take ur inhaler along ooh!
When you mentioned you were going to write about naija women and money, I thought you were going to write about how they're gold diggers etc ... I've never heard this other point of view, that the ones who have money will try and use it to buy people/husbands!
I'm loving this series!
Intresting Post!!!1
much needed tonic, the first lady was quite hilarious, bible and binding..lol..
anyhow on a more serious note, could this also explain the reason why men shy away from sucessful ladies, as in feel that she may try and use her success as an inducement..lol..
this post got me thinking in a weird sort of way.
@Vera:
Bidy dey for cloth, I dey kampe.
Vera NIgerian society is not only rather primitive (you all can hate me for saying that)but the people are so badly battered and bruised that they seek any way out of their present situation. It is actually disgusting, I am slowly losing my faith in Nigeria and Nigerian women. I really don't want to raise my kids in this country.
@London Naij chick:
It was bloody scary, traumatic, horrible....
diva-sta:
Same goes for women as well. Dont you think?
@Anonymous:
Ermm ok!!
@Little girl lost:
I agree with you there.
@Naija dude
Aburo mi Kilon shelle?
@Vickii
Ever thought about what the gold diggers do when they have fleeced the men for their money? They then seek love.
@old fan:
Thanks
@Life of a Stranger:

wanted to ask... where would u want ur kids to grow up? the whole world is screwed!!!!
when things like that happen, you run!!!!
@oldfan:
To be honest, anywhere my kids don't have to grow up in such filth. Nigerian society is really bad at the moment.
@anonymous:
Believe me, I ran and I ran far away.
I shy away from people that have money naturally just because I don't like "stuff" around me and people with money (especially guys) tend to accumulate a lot of gadgets, things make me uneasy.Unfortunately, a lot of Naija guys can not get that way of life and find it hard to believe that there are people in the world that live simple lives without all that shit. I have been offered everything, from cars to houses, especially Igbo men, dem no dey gree hear word!
you know there are a lot of men that have marrying rich as one of the criteria for a woman?
@waffarian
I like money, in fact I love money. Not for the purpose of amassing material things, but for the lifestyle that I will live. I want further exposure, I want to see even more of the world, and not be the local champion in Lagos. A lot of people dont get my out look, I was once asked why I don't feel the need to "oppress". I wish the dumb girl that said it knew the true meaning of the word.
@Uzo:
Guys are gold diggers too.
"I want further exposure, I want to see even more of the world, and not be the local champion in Lagos"
Okay, that is definitely a valid reason, I would say "knowledge" is a good enough reason for wanting to have money. As for "oppressing", wasn't that a secondary school thing? people still dey do am? those days dem dey use "short bread" dey oppress me and my cabin biscuit! heheheh!
@Waffarian:
I belive that seeing the world is part and parcel of aquiring knowledge. As for opressing, the thing still dey happen now oo!!
Wait till me next post. ;-)
LOL.. they were binding you as future husband,lol.. you must be a hot bloke oh... LOL.. i am sure you were scared as hell... she should have done that behind closed doors.. it works better that way...lol.. gosh i can't stop laughing here...
Ha! Na wa o, this na serious matter. Na by force? LOL Boorish, you have had some crazy experiences o. LOL
@ziariz:
Hmmn!! Works better behind closed door? Do you have a history of binding?
@daddys girl:
Yep, my life has been really intersting.
oh dear father... i bind thee... and then you took of running? a whole you... why didnt u just calmly start rebuking right there and then... lol... too funny!!!
i guess i have a long wait for the third installment of the other series
hmn... what is it about thou that members of the fairer sex are seeking the help of Jesus to 'bind" thee as their husbands? pray tell...
lemme say somthn here, a typical macdonalds flipping burgers girlie as in its not her hobby o, but thts wht she does or a living, wht cld u possibly have in common, i mean intellectually, its not abt being arrogant or looking down on her o but abt being real!
