What is this whole existence of ours about? Why are we here? What purpose do we serve? These are questions that I battle with regularly, at times I don't see the point of it all. We spend all our lives in pursuit of material gain and physical pleasure and yet it all counts for nothing, as we are all destined to leave this world one day. I often wonder if the Nihilistic philosophical position is right, maybe life is without purpose, maybe our entire way of life is baseless and without any proper value.
When I was an avowed hedonist I chased after all the cheap thrills, and yet found myself empty and unfufilled, I put an end to that and sought a more fufilling way of life, and yet I haven't found what it is that I seek.
I love life, but wish i truly understood it.......

a big "hmnnn" to that. Read Ecclesiastes and wonder, might make you depressed though.
Ever hear Tracy Chapman's "If these are the things that dreams are made of, why don't I dream any more.."
@abeni
I do respect your views, I have read Ecclesiastes, it is a fine piece of writing, however it doesn't quite hit the nail on the head for me. Thanks for reading the blog.
I pray you find what you seek ...I really do.

Thanks a lot. Much appreciated.
A huge hmmmmm to that as well. I ask myself questions like that most times as well. It all seems vast and vague to me, whats the essence of our humanistic nature? Why is our being in existence?
I am so looking to response on this.
On that note: Good job there bro!
I wish I understood it too... then maybe I'd have something more to say to this... but Here's to our journey of discovery... Toast mate!
As you're agnostic, my whole it-all-makes-sense-in-the-light-of-the-cross belief (which I hold very firmly) will probably not do it for you. All the best on your journey of discovery...
PS On the last couple of PG13 (more like R if you ask me) posts... Boorish, is there ANYTHING you have not done sex-wise?? Sheesh. You could prolly write a book about it... what do you think? What I'm curious about (especially since you're not convinced that God exists) it why you've turned over a new leaf. Apart from that article on love you shared...
@naijadude
Thanks bro!!!
Where is the Ijebu wife you promised me?
@overwhelmed
Nice one gorgeous
@Daddys girl
Why did I turn over a new leaf? Simply because I grew up......
Boorishmale,
You are a solid writer and your thoughts are boundless! I have realized as Humans we tend to hold on to beliefs and are scared to think aloud for the fear of uncertainty might lead us to ….., “The journey as it is, is complex, talkless of the other Journey which is presumed ceremoniously endless” As a friend of mine states “be yourself and try not to hurt the other man intentionally”
On the other note.. I am also on the verge of making a Home return o. Omo Ise just dey take my time for oyibo man land, I’ll rather exert that energy in my country! reading your post your transition has been well worth it.

If you need any further info. Dont hesitate to ask....
Thanks.
I concur with anon above...
I think that's the problem there... we are too busy trying to "understand" and to find answers to the whys and hows. I truly believe life is about the journey and the path that we collectively and individually choose to tread. We have no concrete proof on what happens after we are called, just several theories based heavily on faith and our incredibly colourful imagination. It's all a journey and my belief is that it's about living the very best life you can here and now... while minding the rest of your journey and the other travelers.
It's a classic question and one of the greatest questions of our time...mankind's search for meaning.
The deep & simple truth is that only God and his son Jesus Christ can give meaning to our lives. Basically NO GOD, NO MEANING, hence the saying "to know life's purpose,we must know life's creator". Otherwise we are molecules accidentaly thrown together,whose acts are fuitle and heading toward nothingness.I'm not aiming to peddle a religion but pointing towards an intimate relationship with a personal God who knows you by name,loves you and wants you to know him.I write from personal experience. But this is something each person must discover for his/herself. I respect your opinion and as you continue on your quest i'll have you in my prayers. Have a great weekend!!!
@ Maxelle..
From your perspective! You do have a point. I am also a believer who has established a relationship with God (Sometimes religious but a Believer). Basing every individual I have met over the years from different genres, one thing for sure is that we are all spiritual one way or the other. That path we decide to choose is chosen by our spiritual realm. I was watching TV sometime back and saw thousands of people (Hindus)having a BATH in INDIA,every year they would gather and cleanse themselves off bad sins!!! They also feel they have a personal relationship with their creator? I am happy with my beliefs but cannot fault others….
